My phone says this photo was taken at 4:18 am. It was somewhere around this point when there seemed to be smoke coming from our engine that I moved from being annoyed about not getting home in time to finish the papers I was grading when we left at about 2:00 am to starting to worry I may not even make it work (approximately 70 miles north from this point) on time.
My all- nighters used to be so much more fun when I was younger.
Okay, that's a lie. (Non-sleeping babies, writing graduate papers, prepping for 6 different English classes in one. . . the sorts of things that have a history of keeping me up all night have never been that exciting.)
