frozen fall

Winter sort of snuck up on fall and this year and froze it in place for a few days.

Or maybe it sneaked up on it.

It surely did one of the two, but I can't get myself to say "sneaked" out loud because it sounds so wrong to my ears, yet I can't write "snuck" because it looks so obviously wrong written down. Generally,  I avoid the word (in all its forms) all together.

But, there really isn't another word that seems to fit just now.  I guess that means I'll never be able to go back and read this post again.
