Today we celebrated Leap Day with a little Plato:
“At first, when any one of them is liberated and compelled suddenly to stand up and turn his neck around and walk and look towards the light, he will suffer sharp pains, the glare will distress him . . .Though, the business of us who are the founders of the State will be to compel the best minds to attain that knowledge which we have already shown to be the greatest of all– they must continue to ascend until they arrive at the good . . ."
